A Mothers Love
Proverbs 31:26
"Her mouth is full of wisdom; kindly teaching is on her tongue." The Good News: Mothers are calm, wise, and kind. It is their job to pass down these qualities to their children and everyone around them, and we are to praise them for doing so.
Sunday morning Mothers Day, it has been a weekend full of events. As we celebrated Colby’s graduation from High School with family and friends. Then transition into a celebration of Mothers and all they bring to our world.
I spent some time this morning reflecting on how I would write this blog and what I would say and how I would follow true to the theme of swing and reaping and tie mothers together be it equine and or human. I should start by saying thank you to my own mother and the list of reasons why would fill these pages and at that point the message may become lost on me alone. So I will say probably and most definitely the main reason is she loved me no matter what through good bad and questionable and for that I can never show enough gratitude.
Mother: a woman in relation to her child or children.
The dictionary defines mother as the above line. It’s a relationship it is not a term that is granted simply based in biology. It requires an act to be that and to become that so with this platform and within our circle of friend’s family and followers I want to shine a light on the mothers that we have in our home and have made this family what it is today.
Before Kyndal had given birth to a child of her own, she chose to become a mother to three children that had no biology in common with her. That simple act and choice was the selfless beginning of a story that is currently being written and continues to grow each and every day. With out Kyndal in my life and in their lives these children would be missing out on some truly wonderful and amazing parts of life that only a mother can bring to the table. I am so thankful for how she has embraced her position in this family and run fully ahead without hesitation to fill the roll mother. There are so many wonderful things that I can say about how she models wisdom and teaches love, kindness and integrity to these children that it is impossible to find a sentence that would say it properly. Kyndal has become the image of mother to our family that I can only say is painted in scripture and has set the standard around us for what is expected in the years to come. Through sacrifice and steadfastness, she has lifted us up, she has held us together through our darkest hours and she has forged ahead in time of uncertainty to bring all of us to where we are today. Her commitment to this family and to these children is unwavering, she wants for them as badly or even more so for them, then she ever ask for herself. That is a rare trait and even more uncommon stance in today’s world and for that she is loved and respected beyond measure.
The impact that Kyndal is having on these children will shine through for the rest of their lives it will carry on into their families and I cannot wait to see that. To those of us that have been given truly wonderful and loving mothers we can count ourselves lucky, blessed or dare I say fortunate. Mothers truly are the fitting example of sowing and reaping in my opinion, they plant the seeds the watch over and continually groom and protect and any other number of task all for the opportunity to reap a harvest of Love in the end of a life well lived and a child well raised.
Bailey Packin Gold standing watch over SS GoldieRocks (Remix) as a days old colt. A daughter of the great Packin Sixes and Leos Gold Saturday this mare has mothered 2 horses that have passed through the Slash S Ranch and both have had a tremendous impact on our program. I looked for any information that I could find about this mare while I was trying to write this blog, lets just say my skills in research are limited. What I can say based on experience is that as a mother she has passed on or imprinted into her babies kindness, intelligence and trainability. There is a lot to be said in the industry for those qualities that we look for in our equine partners. So much of the time the emphasis is put on the stallion and what he brings to the cross and I truly think the importance of the mother holds equal value. It will be hard to measure the impact of mothers in our industry because the numbers are not there where a single stallion may breed 30-100 mares a yea, most mares will raise only 1 offspring and in some rare cases that there are multiples out of a mare the long term impact is overshadowed by the stallion. As we celebrate mothers today I wanted to shine the light in the direction of the mother that gave the Slash S Ranch our future and our corner stone.
I am anxiously awaiting the day that Remix and Kyndal start their career together. Remix’s mother may not have held goals and dreams for her baby, but I dare say she instilled in him a quality that will be instrumental in helping the mother in this family achieve the deepest desires of her heart.
