Stillness during a time of Growth

Stillness during a time of Growth~

The 46 th Psalm verse 10 the author describes how God's presence is among His people, giving

them protection, confidence, and power.

“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth.”

Sometimes life gets busy and things are coming at you from all different directions. It

becomes a bit chaotic and in some cases overwhelming. It is in these moments and at

theses times that we need to take a break and be still and just listen. When we talk

about “farming” there is Planting and then praying for the blessing of rain and the

growth of the crop and all of that leads up to a harvest.

With breeding season in full swing and training season for the the Fort Smith

futurity and the Royal Crown event in May, we are busy everyday. We have been

hauling mares to and from the vet for cycle checks and for breeding and then again for

conformations and heartbeat checks. It seems like there is something going or needing

our attention every day. In amongst that we have been hauling Remix to the facility on

occasion for collection and shipment so that adds an additional set of logistics and time

requirements to an already full and ever changing schedule.

Adding to that we are in the very early stages of working towards buying 320

acres with a home in SW Oklahoma. That is a new adventure for us and the beginning

of a legacy for our family. Many of you have been through that and understand the ins

and outs of the evaluation process and financing and making a plan to utilize to the best

of it’s and our potential. Of course we want to build a training facility and program and

along with the we want to breed a select few mares and raise some future performance

horses to use for our goals.

Along with the horses we have the kids to keep up with, I am not sure who

requires more attention between the two of them. With Colby being a senior in high

school he is about to graduate and begin the next step in his future with more school

and work as well as adding hobbies that fall outside of school activities. Cadence and

Madisyn are barrel racing and get more active and busy as the weather gets better and

the school days draw to an end. Then there is Maddox 30” tall and 25 lbs and I am sure

he is the most work of any of them. I bet he says Dada 1,000 times a day and he points

his finger and gets more intense like a metal detector until I guess what he’s after.

As a side note down this rabbit trail can we just learn a lesson from Maddox just

there. No matter what is going on in his world he looks for his daddy to help him. He

communicates with me all day from his first sentence to his last. No matter how small or

large his need is he ask me to provide it for him. That is the relationship that I want to

have with my heavenly father. That is the picture of the relationship that he wants to

have with us. He wants us to count on him to lean on him and to look to him inevery

situation and in every need or want.

As I am sitting here in our home with all the kids in bed and Kyndal sleeping here

beside me on the couch it is the rare time of my day or week that it is quite and there

aren’t any decisions to be made or fires to put out. Its easy to hear my thought and it is

easy to see the picture of where we are headed. We touched in the last blog on some

of the people that help us to move forward and grow and how thankful we are for them

and in this time it becomes clear that when you have the correct people in the proper

places it becomes easier to be still, it becomes easier to have confidence in God’s plan

for your life.

It is so very hard in the face of so much busyness to wait, to step back and to be

still. Yet some times it is the very best thing you can do. To stop and smell the roses or

enjoy a sunset or a sunrise. Maybe just sit on the back porch in the early spring evening

and watch your kids and their significant others play games and discuss life and dream

of a future, while your youngest one runs around carefree and naked as the day he was

born with nothing but joy and happiness in his life. In the moments of stillness we meet

God we experience his never ending love and grace for us and we see how far he has

planned for us. Only by being still can we see the growth, and during the growth it is

busy.
